The BU Philosophy:
A truly healthy muscle is both strong and agile. With this in mind, all classes are designed to both activate and mobilize your muscles and joints. During class, you will work on every muscular group in your body. Nothing is left behind!
We see our bodies as ecosystems—your brain included. That's why we design our classes to enable you to slow down your busy mind, recenter, and tune into your breath and your body.
Exercises are sequenced in such a way that balances the muscular groups in your body through close attention to alignment and the combination of strengthening and releasing.
This is intelligent exercise. Throughout your practice, you will start to better understand your body's needs, recognize places where you tend to hold tension and follow signals that your body gives you.
But don't worry, it won't feel mundane! Our musically dynamic, beat-driven sequences will keep you captivated for the entire class and your body continuously in motion. We know that motion is lotion!
Meet the Team
Plain and simple. We are who we are to create a space where you can be you.
Kiley Lucan
Owner + Founder
Hi, I’m Kiley and there’s one thing I know I was put on this earth to do: encourage others! Instilling confidence and courage in people brings me joy. This practice is so powerful because it meets me in every stage of life. Whether it’s postpartum, post-injury, or post-marathon, I’ve found this to be essential to recovery and sustainable strength. After a decade, the exercise never gets easy! What lights me up about teaching at Barre Union is you - the new students who I get to meet! I love learning about new ways to draw a deeper connection between your physical and mental well-being. Over the years of teaching, I’ve met the most incredible humans. When I’m not here at the studio, I’m with my family, laughing with my husband of almost 15 years, chasing after my two young kids, trail running, and singing - sometimes, all at once!
“Kiley always brings the bright and beautiful energy to keep us motivated and feeling encouraged throughout her incredibly challenging workouts. She's spectacular!!!” - Delia H.

Jenny
LEAD TRAINER
I’m Jenny! I absolutely love working to connect mind and body together—both in the studio and outside of it. As a teacher, I try to bring my love and fascination with anatomy and kinesiology into my classes, by describing in layman’s terms, where/how/why you should feel each movement and posture. My hope is that when you take my class you find joy and wonder in discovering all of the incredible things you are capable of. When I’m not at the studio you can find me hiking with my husband and kids or snuggling my kitties while reading a book.
“I always look forward to Jenny’s classes! Great variety in every class and always explains why we’re doing a certain move.” - Julie B.

Kia
INSTRUCTOR
Hi, I'm Kia. My favorite things are partner dancing and exploring the city with family and friends. I love this practice because it meets me where I am today. If I need a challenge, there's ways to go deeper, if I need a modification, there's always options. My favorite moment in a class is discovering my reserves of energy when a teacher says, "just 8 more counts." My favorite part of teaching is helping students find proper alignment and how to get engaged so they can have a great workout. I'm particularly excited by teaching essentials because it helps folks grow their practice and discover the mind-body connection that makes them more successful in any class. When I'm not at barre, I'm probably walking my dog, or dancing. There's never enough dancing.
